How to Clean a Bathroom Pop-Up Drain
Most bathroom sinks have a pop-up drain assembly that allows you to open and close the sink drain. The pop-ups become clogged with soap scum, toothpaste, hair and other gunk. But cleaning the pop-up isn't easy, if you don't know what you're doing. The plumbing experts at Roto-Rooter created this how-to video to teach you how to clean a pop-up drain assembly the right way.

What you'll need: a bucket, a rag, channel lock pliers and needle nose pliers. Unscrew the metal/plastic top of the pop-up drain. Under the sink, disconnect the metal bar and put your bucket underneath the drain. Unscrew the stopper plug, then pull out. Yuck! Clean the stopper plug and clean the stopper, then replace stopper plastic plate; the hole should face the wall. Under the sink: reconnect stopper plug and tighten by hand, then reconnect metal bar. Nice work!
